On Waiting

Okay, several editors could, at this very moment, be reading my manuscript.  I’m waiting for good news from just one editor.  That’s all I need. I keep reminding myself it just takes one yes.  But how can I distract myself from this waiting when my life long dream is about to come true?  This is nerve wracking, teeth nashing, nail biting stuff.  Ralph Waldo Emerson asked, “How much of human life is lost in waiting?”

Of course, I’m not wasting my life waiting.  Life must go on.  And on.  And on. I still have my classes to teach, clients to see and children to raise.  But in every moment I have to myself, I think, “Should I check my email?” or “Could this be the day?”

I love my agent Jill Corcoran, and I am so grateful for her support, enthusiasm and love for my book.  Now I hope we can find an editor just as excited to join our team.

Nisandeh Neta said, “Why wait when you can create?” So, I guess I’ll take my cue from her and start working on my sequel!
